Forgotten heroes in India's first women's world cup

In 1973, the Women's Cricket Association of India (WCAI) was established by Mahendra Kumar Sharma, also known as Sharmaji, to promote women's cricket in India. The first national women's cricket tournament was held in Pune in the same year. Despite facing challenges such as lack of funding and support, Indian women cricketers showcased their skills and earned recognition. India went on to host the second Women's Cricket World Cup in 1978. Over the years, the women's game in India has seen progress and has gained popularity.
